Traditional model (China)

Shanghai star & star basket

I really like this traditional Chinese origami. It is not very difficult, but I rated it "difficult" because it takes a while to make and involves a lot of basic folds. It is a three-in-one model: the Shanghai star makes a pretty decoration on its own; but you can also slip a photo inside before closing the model, and you will have a frame to stick on a card or in a photo album. Finally, if you open the star out into 3D, you will get a flower basket, to which you can add a handle: perfect for Easter with little eggs! To make this model, you will need two squares of the same size, plus a strip of paper a quarter of a square wide if you want to make the handle.
