Box with cranes

The video is hosted on YouTube: it only loads when you press Play.

Even though this fold is not origami in the true sense of the word, since it needs a few snips of the scissors in the first steps, I really like this elegant box decorated with a traditional crane at each corner, which is why I wanted to share it with you. It is not a very easy origami, not because the folds themselves are difficult, but because the sides of the box get in the way when you fold the cranes. What's more, it amounts to folding cranes from squares whose sides are three times smaller than the starting square, so you are better off starting with a fairly large square. Here I use a 21 cm square, which gives a 7 cm box. Happy folding!
