Origami for kids

Aeroplanes, a boat, a paper chicken, animals that move: easy, short origami to fold with children, with step-by-step videos and one sheet of paper.

This selection is for parents and teachers. These are models rated easy, with short videos, and they are fun: animals that talk or flap their wings, a jumping frog, an aeroplane, a boat, a paper chicken. We do not give a precise age: it depends on each child, on how used they are to folding and on their patience. The youngest will need help, while older children can follow the video alone.

The simplest way is to fold together. Watch the video, pause it at each step, and let the child make the fold. Take a square of paper that is stiff enough to hold the creases: printer paper or bristol, or a slightly thicker sheet so the frog has some spring.

The fun comes afterwards: draw the eyes, make the bird snap its beak, throw the aeroplane, make the frog jump. And start again.
