Model by Toshikazu Kawasaki
Kawasaki rose
The video is hosted on YouTube: it only loads when you press Play.
Spring is now here, so to celebrate we are offering you a flower origami: a rose.
It is a model by Toshikazu Kawasaki, an origamist and mathematician who established theorems linking these two fields. As an origamist, he is famous for his rose models, based on a twist of the paper that gives the flower a very realistic look. He has created a whole series of models, some more complex than others. The one we present here is one of the simplest, even though it still requires a number of creases to be made before you start. You will need a square of paper that is not too thin, 15 cm on each side. Happy folding!
