Flower kusudama

The video is hosted on YouTube: it only loads when you press Play.

A kusudama is a decorative ball usually made of several origami pieces joined together with thread or glue. Originally, kusudamas were probably made from herbs or flowers, and were used to hold incense or perfume. This one, which needs no glue to assemble, is not traditional: it was created by the Japanese origamist Yoshihide Momotani. It is made from 6 identical squares (7.5 cm in the photo). The units, which are not all that quick to fold, are put together like the 6 faces of a cube, each one joined to 4 others. And, as you will have guessed, modular = not easy to assemble!!
