Hen egg cup
New version (2016)
The video is hosted on YouTube: it only loads when you press Play.
This origami by Kunihiko Kasahara is a real egg cup that you can use for your boiled eggs (as long as you make it with fairly stiff paper). For Easter, it makes a lovely decoration with a chocolate egg or little sugar eggs. You will need two squares of the same size (here 15 cm) to make it. This model is really very clever, because it combines a sanbô, the traditional Japanese tray, with a second part that turns it into a hen!! The second square should be the same colour as the sanbô on one side (white in the video) and red on the other, so that the hen's comb is red. But if you don't have that kind of paper, you can also colour the comb in! I recommend using a little glue for the assembly to make the model sturdier. Happy folding!
