To ease back into the routine, there's nothing like a little souvenir of the summer holidays!!! I suggest making a photo frame in which you can put a few memories of this summer. It is an easy modular origami that you can turn into several shapes: for example a little concertina-fold book, or a cube (made of 6 frames and 12 connectors). It is a unit I have seen in books by Tomoko Fuse, who also uses it to build polyhedra. To fold each frame you will need a square; here I used 15 cm, which gives a 7.5 cm frame. Inside, you place a 7.5 cm square of fairly stiff paper (or slightly smaller if it is hard to slide in), on which you can stick your photo or any other decoration. But you can just as well slip the photo straight in. To connect two frames, you will need a 7.5 cm square. If you do scrapbooking, you may already know this model, which can easily be embellished with any decorations you like!
