Chinese lucky stars
New version (2015)
The video is hosted on YouTube: it only loads when you press Play.
Here is a very popular traditional Chinese origami: lucky stars. In this new video, we have added spoken instructions and music! For a lovely decorative effect, fold several stars in different sizes and colours and put them in a container. For the festive season, you can also scatter them on your table. To make them, you need strips of paper 1 to 2 cm wide, cut along the length of an A4 sheet (29.7 cm).
For bigger stars, you will need wider strips of paper, but also strips longer than 30 cm, or the star will get squashed at the final step. As this model is so popular, you can find ready-made paper strips for folding these stars online, in a quite impressive choice of colours and patterns!
