Origami envelopes

Origami envelopes, letter-envelopes and pouches to slip in a note, a card or a banknote, folded step by step on video from a plain A4 sheet.

A kind note, an invitation, a greetings card or a banknote slipped in for a birthday: an origami envelope instantly gives the message some style. Nearly all the models on this page are folded from a plain A4 sheet. Only the traditional pouch starts from a square, a little more than twice the length of your card (30 cm for a postcard), and the noshi from a 30 × 20 cm sheet.

Some close without glue: Laura Kruskal's ribbon envelope stays shut by itself, and the letter-envelope locks when you tuck the flap inside. For the others, a sticker or a wax seal is enough, as with the traditional envelope.

Watch the size: from an A4 sheet, the ribbon envelope measures only about 8 × 10.5 cm. To slip a card inside, take an A3 sheet instead, or write your message on the sheet before folding it. To give a banknote, try the noshi kabuto.

Envelopes, letters and pouches

From the simplest to the hardest: almost all are easy, and the noshi, of medium difficulty, comes last.
